Construction Work using Lime Materials

Nepal’s heavy dependence on cement for construction is both expensive and unsustainable. As such we have begun piloting the use of lime and earth mortars as a substitute for cement. Lime and earth can be used to construct buildings of an equal, if not greater, quality than cement, but for a fraction of the cost and carbon footprint. The project is currently in the preliminary phases of determining a pilot location, sourcing materials, and testing. Within two months we aim to have at least one pilot structure built using lime and earth in the Helambu region.
