Vermicompost

A key sustainable principle is to try and minimise waste and wherever possible either reuse it or turn it into something more valuable (upcycle). This is why vermicomposting (composting with the aid of worms) systems are so appealing to us. Vermicomposting accelerates the composting process greatly and provides many more highly valuable by-products than just normal composting. Not only is the compost produced some of the most nutritious and rich that is possible to produce, but the leachate (water run off from the compost) is also highly nutritious and sells for 40 USD per litre in the US. Excess worms from a vermicompost system can be used as the primary feed for an aquaponics system.
