Recently, Scott Wilson Nepal was assigned a baseline study, Nepal Agricultural Market Development Program (NAMDP) by Swisscontact to study the current status of commercialization of farms in Province 1. The main objective of this project was to evaluate the existing status of commercialisation and income level of farmers with a focus on four commodities i.e. maize, dairy, cardamom and vegetables. For this, Enumerators and Supervisors were mobilized to abstract qualitative and quantitative data from 8 different districts of Province 1.

The core team of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning unit also visited two districts of Province 1 (Illam and Jhapa) and carried out Key Informant Interview (KII) and Focused Group Discussions (FGD). The team conducted KII with the Chief of Large Cardamom Entrepreneur Association of Nepal (FLCEA), a local trader of cardamom and a government officer. Similarly, FDG was carried out with farmers from Sumbek-2, Illam.
