Position: Research Associate (Governance)
Remuneration: An attractive package reflecting competencies and experience
Working Days: 5 days a week (Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
Contract: Long-term (following a 2-month probationary period)
Location: Panipokhari, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu (Central Office). See www.swnepal.com.np for location.
Reporting to: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer and CEO
Overall Purpose:
The overall purpose of a research associate (governance) is to provide support for SWN’s projects related to governance and e-governance. The Research Associate will also be part of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Unit and support the execution of all projects undertaken by the MEL Unit.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support SWN in developing governance/e-governance research works
- Support in the organization of workshops, consultations, and interactive engagements in governance-related events
- Develop concept notes and methodologies in the promotion of good governance, including transparency and accountability initiatives
- Design governance supports promotional and illustrative materials including online/digital display materials, video clips, and other promotional/awareness materials
Education and Professional Experiences
- Master’s degree in governance, sociology, digital applications in social sector or related social area
- Two years or more in governance (including E-governance), digital applications; research in social protection systems, e-payments, digital/online system applications; qualitative and quantitative surveys in social issues; advocacy in governance/e-governance areas, etc.
- Professional technical knowledge and expertise in monitoring and evaluation process management, evaluation design, data analysis, and reporting
Core Competencies and Technical/Functional Expertise:
- Excellent ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in a rapidly changing work environment.
- Excellent ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize and implement multiple tasks within strict deadlines, and produce high-quality deliverables.
- Strong knowledge of Nepal’s development sector.
- Professional technical knowledge and expertise in research, data analysis, and reporting.
- Demonstrates high levels of moral integrity, enthusiasm, and commitment to the growth of the organization.
- Proactive and detail-oriented individual with a dedication to identifying solutions to problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Nepali languages.
- Ability and willingness for field travel.
- Positive attitude and a good sense of humor.
Other considerations:
- Good understanding of the Nepali and international development sector
- Available for an interview, from 12th October 2023.
