सुरक्षित सडक, सुरक्षित भविष्य: सडक सुरक्षा सचेतना
As part of the Rural Connectivity Improvement Project-Additional Financing (RCIP-AF), funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), a comprehensive road safety initiative was recently held at Shree Prithvi Narayan Secondary School in Machhapuchhre-7, Dhampus.
The program focused on empowering the next generation of road users through a blend of classroom learning and practical field experience.
Empowering Students through Interactive Learning
A total of 47 students from Grades 8, 9, and 11 participated in an intensive Road Safety Awareness session. The training went beyond theory, involving the students in:
- Star Rating for Schools (SR4S): Utilizing global tools to assess the safety of school zones.
- Field Data Collection: Students observed and recorded real-time road conditions.
- Practical Context: Because the school is situated directly along the RCIP road section, students were able to apply their learning to the very roads they travel every day.
Collaboration with School Management
Safety is a collective responsibility. Our team worked closely with the school administration to identify specific local concerns and prioritize infrastructure and behavioral issues that affect student commutes. To ensure the message of safety resonates long after the session, we provided the school road safety video materials for future educational use.

Implemented by TRL and Scott Wilson Nepal (SWN), this initiative is a vital component of our ongoing mission to create safer school zones. By combining technical data collection with community engagement, we are taking significant steps toward ensuring safer roads for all residents in the region.
