Workshop on Rural Roads and Measures for Landslides Mitigation in Pyuthan
On February 11, 2025, the Pratibaddha-3 Project, with support from the European Union (EU), organized a workshop on “Local Roads Construction and Landslide Mitigation Measures” in Sarumarani Rural Municipality, Pyuthan. The event focused on addressing the impacts of rural road construction on landslides and the development of the Local Road Construction Guidelines.
The workshop was attended by the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Ward Chairpersons, and municipal officials. Participants reviewed and discussed the draft Local Road Construction Guidelines and Landslide Mitigation Manual, which were presented for the municipality’s feedback and approval.
The workshop concluded with a commitment from the municipality to review and endorse the guidelines and identify a pilot road project to implement the technical provisions outlined in the guidelines. This includes the use of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and bioengineering techniques. In her closing remarks, Vice Chairperson Mrs. Basanta Khadka emphasized the municipality’s commitment to policy-driven, action-oriented initiatives aimed at promoting climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable rural road construction.
