Resilient Roads

Since 2000, Scott Wilson Nepal (SWN) has been at the forefront of developing resilient and sustainable transport infrastructure in Nepal. Our expertise spans the entire project cycle—from conceptualization and identification to feasibility studies, topographical surveys, geotechnical and soil investigations, detailed road and bridge designs, training, and construction supervision.

We specialize in delivering innovative and climate-resilient solutions that enhance accessibility and sustainability in remote and vulnerable regions.

Our services in access infrastructure include:

  • Climate-resilient design, construction, and supervision of local roads and foot trails
  • Developed climate-resilient foot trail guideline
  • Detailed engineering design and construction supervision of climate-resilient transport infrastructure
  • Evaluation and Impact assessment of the road, trail, bridge, and motorable bridges programme in Nepal
  • Technical assistance in transport engineering, including road safety, asset management, and maintenance planning
  • Rapid Impact Assessments (RIA) of national road networks
  • Development of Environment-Friendly Rural Road Construction Guidelines for municipalities
  • Advocacy and technical support to promote sustainable road construction practices in local governments
  • Preparation of national technical guidelines, including Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and bioengineering applications for transport infrastructure
  • Design and implementation of NbS-based slope stabilization and mitigation measures
  • Gap assessments to identify challenges and opportunities in achieving climate-resilient road infrastructure in Nepal
  • Capacity building of key stakeholders and focal agencies in the road transport and linear infrastructure sectors
  • Contributions to enabling policies and investment frameworks for climate-resilient transportation in Nepal
