Scott Wilson Nepal has extensive experience in Nepal’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector, as we recognize the crucial role access to clean drinking water and safe WASH practices play in human health, well-being, socio-economic livelihood, education, school attendance, and dignity. For these reasons, it’s one of our priority sectors and we ensure that we follow the Leave No One Behind (LONB) principles.
Many communities in Nepal still lack access to good quality drinking water due to its unavailability, distance, or unreliability. Consequently, the consumption of unsafe water leads to preventable diseases and negatively impacts children’s education, economic livelihood, and gender equality. We are proud to support our clients in gathering valuable data and generating insights and recommendations, thereby contributing to the improvement brought about by development partners implementing WASH infrastructure, policy, and advocacy projects across Nepal.
Data and insights:
- 10.8 million people in Nepal do not have access to improved sanitation, and 3.5 million do not have access to basic water services.
- The Government of Nepal (GoN) has allocated NPR 50.5 billion to the WASH sector (Ministry of Water Supply, 2023).
- Nepal has 95.5% sanitation coverage and 88.6% water supply coverage.
