Cross Cutting Issues

The development index (ICIMOD 1997) shows Khotang as 46th poorest and the most under-developed district of Nepal. The total population in Khotang is 206,312 (CBS, 2011). Accessibility is very limited in the district with road building and connectivity with national road network being a recent initiative and only basic transport link and services in place. The assignment therefore seeks to develop periodic plans within District Periodic Plan(DPP) framework for the overall development of the districts.

Key activities and Services Provided by S.W. Nepal

In undertaking the assignment, SW Nepal organized workshops to assess the needs and capacities of the local community to prepare a participatory base for developing the overall plan.

The periodic plan included long-term vision with objectives and working policies, physical infrastructures, services and facilities within the village development area, possibilities of resource mobilization and income generation and the cost involvement of the government, community and private sector.

Outcome

The assignment therefore seeks to develop periodic plans within District Periodic Plan

(DPP) framework for the overall development of the districts.
