Background
SW Nepal (Scott Wilson Nepal) is a of the consortium led by DAI, USA, for the implementation of Nepal’s USAID funded Karnali Water Activity program. The program works across the Karnali River Basin in Western Nepal to promote healthy, resilient, and water-secure communities by improving water resources management practices, drinking water supply and multiple-use systems, and fecal sludge management and treatment plants.
In support of Objective 1: Increased Sustainable Access to Safe Drinking Water and Productive Uses, the USAID Karnali Water Activity works across four target watersheds to construct new drinking water schemes as well as rehabilitate or reconstruct non-functional water supply schemes for different sized communities. In addition, the activity will design and construct multiple-use water systems (MUS) for vulnerable population groups in support of the program’s objective to support productive uses of water to enhance increased agriculture-led growth and community resilience.
Objective of the Assignment
Under objective 1, SWN has been assigned to provide Engineering services for:
- Feasibility study of up to 52 water supply schemes and up to eight (8) multiple-use water systems to select new and rehabilitated Water Supply Schemes (WSS)
- Preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the 45 (40 WSS and 5 MUS) systems.
- Detailed tender and bid inputs for procurement of the construction contractors.
Key Activities and Service Provided by SWN
The key activities that SWN is undertaking are:
- Inception report with Quality Control Plan and Environment Mitigation Plan.
- Feasibility studies of 52 schemes and sources as per the priority order set by Karnali Water Activity team in the pilot phase.
- Water quality test of selected schemes.
- Detailed Engineering Survey (DES) of feasible the schemes and sources.
- Detailed design and estimates of the proposed schemes after the completion of DES.
- Comprehensive Detailed Project Report of all 42 schemes.
- Detailed tender document and specification for procurement of the contractor.
Output
The project delivers 42 DPR for the execution of the community water supply schemes by the Program.
