Background

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) implemented a project on ‘Safer, Healthier, and More Resilient Communities in Rasuwa’ in Naukunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa district through a local implementing partner- BATAS Foundation. Over two years, the project provided assistance to 800 households (3,246 individuals), in the realm of WASH, livelihoods, education, and child protection. The project also integrated disaster risk reduction into various activities. The project aimed to improve earthquake and COVID-19-affected communities in Rasuwa District.

SWN was awarded an assignment to carry out a final evaluation of the LIFT project.


Objective of the Assignment 

The assignment’s objective was to do an end of project assessment and evaluation of the impact of the LIFT project done by IRW. The specific objectives were:

  • Determine the ultimate project value according to the project log frame within the designated project location.
  • Integrate gender analysis into every aspect of the study.
  • Perform an impartial assessment of the project based on the DAC criteria.
  • Gather a minimum of three case studies to demonstrate the project’s impact.

Key Activities and Service Provided by SWN

SWN carried out the following activities:

  • 104 household surveys with WASH and livelihood beneficiaries of Naukunda 3, 4 and 5
  • 5 focus group discussions (FGD) and 3 key informant interviews (KII) with education beneficiaries, community beneficiaries, and ward chairpersons
  • Created 3 case studies that highlights the impact of the project
  • Analysed qualitative and quantitative data collected, to prepare a final evaluation report with findings, conclusions and recommendations

Outputs

There were two main outputs for this assignment:

  • Establishing the effectiveness and relevance of the project’s interventions, outputs, and results.
  • Preparation a detailed end of project assessment and evaluation report.
