Cross Cutting Issues

Nepal Peace Trust Fund (NPTF) was established in February 2007 following the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) between Maoists and Government of Nepal in November 2006.

Key activities

NPTF provides a mechanism to channel and coordinate resources in through support in four thematic areas as follows:

Cluster 1: Cantonment Management and Rehabilitation of Combatants
Cluster 2: Conflict Affected People and Communities
Cluster 3: Security and Transitional Justice
Cluster 4: Constituent Assembly and Peace Building Initiatives on National and Local Levels through implementing agencies.
So far, the NPTF projects are disaggregated under the four clusters and all Implementing Agencies (IAs) of projects are Government of Nepal agencies. As of June 2013, 20 projects have been completed under cluster 1 and 11 under cluster 4.

Services provided by SW Nepal

S.W. Nepal was assigned to prepare a project completion report for all the 31 completed projects under cluster 1 and 4. In undertaking this assignment, SWN carried out intensive literature research of relevant documents and carried out consultation meeting and key informant interview with client and IAs. The major challenge encountered during the process was unavailability of focal person of the projects that were closed after completion. The expert team used Snowball Effect methodology in those cases and collected projects information such as on sustainability, target group, cross cutting issues, funding and finance was compiled and presented in the report format prescribed by GIZ.
