Project Background
The World Bank funded project, the Review of Resilient, Inclusive, and Sustainable Building Technologies in Nepal and Capacity Building of Local Entrepreneurs and Professionals, aims to assess and promote resilient, sustainable and inclusive building technologies while strengthening the capacity of local entrepreneurs and masons in Nepal. It will provide technical insights into various construction technologies and offer recommendations for cost-effective, scalable solutions. Focusing on eight municipalities in the Koshi, Karnali, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, the project aims to enhance the technical and business skills of local professionals to adopt sustainable construction practices.
S. W. Nepal (SWN) and Build Up Nepal (BUN) have formed a joint venture for this project.
Consulting Services and Activities
- Lead and coordinate project tasks, ensuring smooth execution and timely delivery.
- Conduct ecosystem and LCCA analyses, and prepare detailed reports.
- Design and training deliver for local entrepreneurs, masons, and professionals.
- Assist in creating sustainable business plans for local construction businesses.
- Address the social issues and ensuring inclusivity in project activities.
- Conduct surveys, interviews, and field study for data gathering.
- Assess the market trends, value chains, and identify the SWOT for construction businesses
Assignment Objectives
The overall objective of this assignment is to produce technical evidence on the resilience, sustainability, inclusivity, and scalability of various building technologies while enhancing the capacity of local entrepreneurs and construction professionals in eight municipalities. This will help identify cost-efficient, resilient construction solutions for public and private buildings. The specific objectives are :
- To produce technical evidence-based recommendations for the development of cost-effective, resilient, sustainable, inclusive, as well as scalable building construction technologies.
- To enhance the technical and business capacity of local entrepreneurs and construction professionals in eight municipalities to adopt these technologies.
Outputs and/ or Learnings
- Component 1 includes reports on ecosystem analysis and LCCA , along with mason training materials (curriculum, manuals, presentations, videos) and a training process report.
- Component 2 covers a market analysis report for eight municipalities, capacity-building materials, and a final completion report.
