Introduction
Rural Health and Education Service Trust (RHEST) invited S.W. Nepal Pvt. Ltd. (Scott Wilson Nepal) to undertake the training programme to build the M&E capacity of RHEST under its strategic plan. SWN designed and delivered 4-day Result-Based Monitoring and Evaluation Training in Kathmandu from 23rd to 26th August 2022.
Objective of the Assignment
The key objectives of the training programme were:
- To share the importance and design of the theory of change and logical framework
- To familiarize the participants with the working concept of monitoring, evaluation, and different tools and methods for M&E.
- To provide an overview of how M&E strategy can be operationalized in the RHEST context, especially in child protection based on the RHEST logical framework
- To impart a better understanding of designing the indicators and their measurement.
- To provide an overview of the preparation and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation plan
Key Activities and Service Provided by SWN
- Carried out initial assessment and the feedback for preparation of training module.
- Conducted 4-days training in SWN premises which include participation of 6 staffs of RHEST and its partners.
- Preparation of PowerPoints covering all relevant concepts, frameworks, and tools followed by distribution and discussion.
- Area covered: theories and indicators of M&E, Theory of Change, log frame preparation, project management, M&E plan, means of verification, data sources, and reporting writing.
- Carried out pre-test, post-test, provided practical exercises to access understanding of the participant.
- Recommendation to RHEST from team member for way forward.
Outcome
The training enabled the RHEST to understand and appreciate the importance of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning at the institutional and programme level. It also helped to equip the programme team member in developing their monitoring and evaluation tools for their ongoing projects.
