Project Period
September 2014 to December 2014

Project Area
N/A
With an overarching goal of building and strengthening Nepal’s peace process, the Government of Nepal established a government-administered instrument, the Nepal Peace Trust Fund (NPTF), in January 2007. Since then, NPTF has been functioning as a coordinating body for peace-related initiatives, acting as a funding mechanism for internal and external resources, and monitoring the peace process in the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) and subsequent related agreements. NPTF is managed by Peace Fund Secretariat (PFS) which functions as its Secretariat.
The European Union (EU) funded initiative EU-TA-PFS is designed to support the NPTF in effective and efficient delivery of support leading to realisation of the objectives set out by Comprehensive Peace Accord.
The study was commissioned to map projects for conflict-affected people (CAPs) in Nepal, supported by NPTF and key development partners (DP).
Objective
The study was commissioned to map projects for conflict-affected people (CAPs) in Nepal, supported by NPTF and key development partners (DP).
Key activities
The study maps present and past support to CAPs, identifies key funding areas, establishes geographical pattern of support and assesses gaps in the support provided. While piecemeal studies and reviews have been carried out in the past, there has been no single mapping of the projects supporting CAPs dating back to 2007. Against this backdrop, this study is carried out to contribute to developing a single picture of priority areas of supports to CAPs since 2007.
Services provided by SW Nepal
Based on secondary research, the study proposed a working definition of CAPs and identified CAPs sub-groups. As part of this study, various documents, monitoring reports, reviews on peace initiatives in Nepal, including Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) and other subsequent agreements were also reviewed to complement the analysis derived from project portfolios received from NPTF and DP. The study aimed to contribute to a better understanding of the focus or gaps in supports provided to conflict-affected people in Nepal since the signing of the CPA.
