Bio-engineering is at the heart of every green infrastructure initiative undertaken by Scott Wilson Nepal. With more than two decades of hands-on experience, the firm has supported the governments of Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh through policy guidance, technical documentation, and field-based innovations in bio-engineering and Nature-based Solutions (NbS).
Since the early 2000s, SWN has delivered extensive training and capacity-building programs for engineers, planners, and community groups. These efforts span rural roads, irrigation systems, shelter projects, and other community infrastructures, strengthening local capabilities in environmentally responsible and hazard-resilient development.
SWN also actively promotes pro-poor and inclusive roadside bio-engineering practices. By integrating vegetation-based stabilization with community and local government participation, the firm helps enhance slope stability, reduce landslide risks, and protect vital infrastructure.
As one of Nepal’s pioneering organizations in NbS for disaster risk reduction, SWN brings high-level expertise in designing and implementing ecological solutions that safeguard both people and the environment.
SWN works have also been to promote roadside bio-engineering works in a manner that allows pro-poor social and economic development with inclusive income generation by the roadside communities.
