Disaster Governance, Institutional Strengthening, and Policy Support

Scott Wilson Nepal collaborates and works with federal, provincial, and local governments, and development partners to strengthen systems and capacities for effective disaster risk management (DRM). SWN core competencies includes:

  • Supporting development or revision of local and provincial DRM policies, plans, and frameworks (e.g., LDCRP, DPRP).
  • Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment, development of early action plans for vulnerable communities.
  • Conducting capacity and needs assessments of local/provincial institutions.
  • Providing technical inputs to national-level guidelines and standards (e.g., resilient infrastructure, climate adaptation, NbS).
  • Assisting in policy dialogue and advocacy to integrate DRR and climate resilience into sectoral policies (e.g., transport, urban planning).
  • Developing and disseminating knowledge products, tools, and manuals for evidence-based DRM policymaking.
